Always have a second set of clipper blades!

Don't get caught...half short!

It may sound in our own best interests to encourage our customers to always have 2 sets of blades…but it comes from years of hearing desperate calls from customers who have a half clipped horse!

Blades can go blunt very suddenly, should they hit a bit of sand hidden in your horse’s hair, or while struggling through some feathers.  You’ll eventually need to get another set of blades anyway, so why not have 2 on the go now?  They don’t have a use-by date, and it will allow you to finish your horse should one set go suddenly blunt.

Of course, should you be in a rush for a new set of blades, give us a call and we’ll get them out to you right away!

Another question we frequently get asked is how many times a set of blades can be sharpened.  There is no definitive answer to this, and it depends on the make of blades – Lister, Heniger, Liveryman, Wahl etc.  There is a ridge on the flat side of the blades, and when this becomes level with the blade, it is no longer possible to sharpen the blade.

If you have any questions about your clipper blades, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.  We are always happy to help.
