Electric fencing rope is approximately 5-6mm diameter. Its advantages are it is a lot stronger than tape and because it is thinner and round it does not flap in the wind as much. This means that at exposed sites rope will out last tape by a considerable margin.
This is of particular benefit when you are using plastic electric fencing posts, as they can be spaced further apart and are less likely to be blown over. Rope is very effective for reinforcing a perimeter ie a weak or thin hedge.
An additional use for rope is to protect wooden fences from being chewed or being used as a scratching post. Ring insulators and rope ( or twine ) are a very effective and long lasting combination.

Why Twine ?
Electric fencing Twine is 2-3 mm diameter. being so thin it is very resistant to the wind and will not cause fences to move during extremely high winds.
Ideally where it is being used on its own ie to strip a field and not against an existing perimeter it should only be used for slow moving animals ( sheep and cattle ) . It should not be used on it own with horses as its slim diameter makes it hard to see at speed !
Other uses for twine include reinforcing existing perimeter ie thin hedge or weak permanent fencing . Anti fox ( predator ) lines for outside poultry runs. Anti deer fencing .
