9 Volt Electric Fence Batteries

9 volt electric fence batteries, to power 9 volt electric fence energisers are not rechargeable - they are dry one-way batteries. They usually live inside the energiser. The advantage of this type of battery is that they can usually run the energiser for between 3 months and 9 months depending on the Ah of the battery and the type of energiser and fence you have - this means no more worrying about lugging a heavy 12 volt battery across a field for recharging. 9 volt batteries are typically lighter and easier to move than 12 volt batteries. They come with different Ah levels - the higher the Ah the longer the battery will last. We typically sell 55Ah batteries which will power our Equistop B1 energiser for about 3 months, and 150 Ah batteries which will power the Equistop B1 energiser for about 9 months.

9 volt batteries come as either Saline or Alkaline batteries. Saline batteries are manufactured using zinc and carbon, are well suited to applications that require a low constant current, has the environmental advantage of being less contaminating that other types of batteries, and are the cheaper type of battery. They will run the fence for almost the same amount of time, but the voltage from the battery will gradually reduce over time.

Alkaline batteries are slightly more expensive, but will give the same voltage output throughout it's life - then suddenly stop.

Saline and Alkaline batteries both work well and your energiser will warn you when both types of battery are close to the end of their life.
