Electric Fencing Lead Out Cable

Electric Fencing Lead out cable is insulated stainless steel.  Our cable is double insulated, with a 1.6mm galvanized core – made in Germany. It can be used in a variety of ways, but is most often used to run electricity along from the electric fence  energiser to the fence itself.  It can also be used to connect the electric fence energiser to the earth stake.  It is good for places where the electrical barrier may be exposed to an ‘earth’, and is also good for places where you do not want the electrical wire to be ‘live’.

The Lead Out Cable with often be run above ground (commonly tacked to a fence or wall), but is also frequently run under ground.  On occasion, you may need to join two bits of lead out cable.  This is very easily done if the cable is running above ground.  Simply peel back the insulating plastic and wrap the wire together.  Then cover the joined wire with electric tape, available from any good hardware store.  If the cable is going under ground, however, you need to be a little more careful as the electricity will be desperate to leak into the ground.  In this instance we strongly recommend using an electric resin kit.  These can be purchased from any good DIY store and cost approx £8.00.

If you are running your lead out wire under ground, we recommend protecting it in a conduit – a hose or blue water piping is a popular choice for this job.

Please note that lead out wire is designed for high voltage, suitable for electric fences.  Normal household flex will not contain the high voltages produced by many energisers; this will cause power loss and a weak fence.

If you have any questions about lead out wire or electric fence, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.  We are always happy to help.

Electric lead out wire comes in 10m, 25m, 50m and 100m rolls, starting at £7.50.
