The Lister Star is an excellent clipper for anyone with 1 – 3 horses.  It is comfortable to hold, easy to use, has the world renowned Lister blades and is a good price.  It is particularly good for those with small hands and is popular with women and teenagers.  However, occasionally the Star motor has been known to go and need replacing.  If this is the case, we strongly recommend that you replace the PCB board at the same time.  Unless you send the clipper back to Lister themselves, it is almost impossible to know if it is in fact the motor or the PCB that has broken.  The PCB drives the motor.  If it is the PCB that is broken, you could put a brand new motor in and the PCB would once again break the new motor, making it a very expensive and frustrating exercise.  At FarmCare, we always replace both parts.
